Island Beach is such a special place in the winter. A beach bonfire and a Kangaroo Island Spirit mulberry gin, or a False Cape red is our idea of the perfect holiday.

The Four Corners episode on the South Australian Algal Bloom is a must watch. The South Australian Labor Government and their “experts” blatantly lied to the public about the severity of the Brevetoxins in water and air. These toxins killed massive amounts of marine life. Put land mammals (kangaroos) and human’s respiratory and GIT systems at risk. Professor Nicola Spurrier knows zero about marine toxins, and clearly has no problem spinning a story to suit the Premier’s agenda. Their so called marine expert is also a spinner.

So what is the SA Government’s plan to prevent this from ever happening again?

When the sun goes down on Kangaroo Island, a whole new world opens up ✨

Far from city lights and surrounded by vast ocean and wild coastline, the Island offers some of the darkest skies in Australia. For night photographers, it is nothing short of a dream. On a clear night, the Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon, revealing details you simply do not see in most places.

This stunning image was captured at Pennington Bay by local photographer Ian Buick. Standing on the edge of the cliffs, with the Southern Ocean stretching into darkness below, the sky becomes the true hero of the scene. It is a reminder that on Kangaroo Island, the experience does not end when the sun sets - here, the night sky is part of the adventure.
