What an absolute shame for such an iconic event to be canned.

Whilst we understand the rising costs of hosting events like this, this event plays such a pivotal role in the tourism and destination awareness of the small towns along the many travel routes to get there.

🎸🎶 ONE LAST BIG RED BASH

Organisers have announced the 2027 Birdsville Big Red Bash will be the last, as they unveil the line-up for the iconic outback festival's final run.

The festival will return to Big Red outside Birdsville from July 6–8, 2027, after this year's event was cancelled due to flooding at the site. 🌧️

❗️Organisers say rising costs, recent weather challenges and the huge logistical demands of staging a festival in one of Australia's most remote locations have made it increasingly difficult to sustain.

Founder Greg Donovan said it was an emotional decision after more than a decade of bringing thousands of music fans into the Queensland Outback.

👉“As a family we feel very sad and emotional that the Big Red Bash chapter is coming to an end.”

“Our focus now is on making 2027 a very special final celebration with everyone who has been part of its story.”

The final line-up includes Missy Higgins, Hoodoo Gurus, Leo Sayer, The Living End, Shannon Noll, Kate Ceberano, The Whitlams, Tim Finn and Troy Cassar-Daley.

🎟️ Tickets go on sale November 12.

It has come to our attention that a local person has made a post about our supposed 'incident' that occurred at our venue on Friday 18/9, whereby a patron claims they were served maggots in their pizza. The incident is in fact not true and the data used to represent this incident, artificially generated and not of their actual meals they were served here in-house.

We pride ourselves on the family atmosphere, quality of food and service we provide, and this is not the first time we have had fake reviews and people planted in our venue with the direct aim of trying to discredit our venue and attempt to have us shut down, so other business owners can benefit from less competition in town.

If this community spent as much time reporting false incidents trying to damage people's reputations and instead focussed on supporting local ventures, doing acts like volunteering and genuinely trying to grow the community to support our future generations to come, the town would be a much more prosperous place.

We are all here for the same goal - to support the town of Mitchell. Let's keep that as our focus.

No further comment will be made on on this incident as legal advice is now being obtained for defamation and slander.
