This Father's Day, we celebrate the man behind Kasteel van Ordingen.

When Richard Sleurs acquired the castle in 1997, he embarked on what was originally planned as a five-year restoration. It became a journey of 21 years, driven by perseverance, vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Today, at 80 years old, he still personally tends to the castle grounds, often seen mowing the lawns himself. Together with a close group of friends, he is always ready to lend a hand, help the team, or tackle the next project around the estate. His dedication, craftsmanship and presence continue to shape the warm, familial character that defines Kasteel van Ordingen today.

A reminder that true care for a place lies in the details, and in the people who dedicate themselves to it.

A small detail with a grand story.

As you wander through the grounds of Kasteel van Ordingen, you may spot a few ducks along the way. A charming sight, made even more meaningful by the fact that ducks also appear in the coat of arms of the Sleurs family, featured throughout the estate.

They also hold a special place in the heart of Mrs. Sleurs, who lovingly cares for the ducks each day, making them a cherished part of life at the castle.

Today, celebrates its 72nd birthday.

What started in 1954 with eight houses along the Route du Bonheur has grown into a worldwide association of more than 580 independent and remarkable hotels and restaurants, united by one shared passion: exceptional hospitality and gastronomy.

We are proud to be part of this family: a place where castle and kitchen come together, surrounded by endless orchards. Cheers to many more years.
