Built in 2000, the Hansville Honey was a quality custom home with plenty of life ahead of it.

When the opportunity arose to relocate the home, a new chapter began. In 2019, Hansville Honey made the journey from our Everett Storage Yard to Hat Island, Washington, including a barge trip across the water before arriving at its new property.

Relocating homes isn't just about moving buildings. It's about recognizing value, preserving quality, and creating opportunities for homes to continue serving families for years to come.

For the new owners, it meant bringing a quality home to a location they loved. For us, it was another reminder that some homes are simply worth moving.

We recently completed the relocation of this 90’×60’ modular office building within the City of Richmond Works Yard.

Using our custom hydraulic transporter system, the structure was safely relocated in one piece through a restricted operating footprint surrounded by active infrastructure and ongoing site activity.

Detailed inspections and engineered support planning were completed prior to the move, including reinforcement strategies for identified modular connection points throughout the structure.

The move was completed safely, and we’re proud to help keep useful buildings in service.

Episode 14 | Fraserglen Regent House Move

A substantial 1985 wood-frame home on its journey from the mainland to Vancouver Island.

This residence is moving from Fraserglen Drive in Surrey to a scenic new lot for Shaun Flanagan and Allison Ussyk right next to the South Island Highway in Campbell River. Moving a house that is 76 feet wide and about 35 feet deep is a massive undertaking, but this one is worth every bit of effort because the structural bones are in such incredible shape.

After nearly 40 years, the 2x10 floor joists and 2x4 walls show no signs of settling or distress at all. Because it was originally built to handle the big snowfalls in Surrey, moving it to the Island means it’s essentially a structural powerhouse that far exceeds local safety requirements. This home is a great example of how quality construction can be preserved and relocated safely under the 2024 BC Building Code.

Last Tuesday, we were honoured to sponsor and participate in the Heritage BC Awards ceremony alongside so many people passionate about preserving the stories and character of our communities.

For 70 years, we’ve had the privilege of moving and preserving heritage buildings, they represent more than old structures, they carry craftsmanship, history, identity, and a connection between generations. We believe more people should explore relocation and reuse before demolition whenever possible.

Preserving heritage buildings is never simple; every move requires careful planning around access, utility line work, building conditions, structural integrity, and transportation logistics. But with the right planning and collaboration, many historic structures can be given a second life instead of being lost forever.

We truly appreciate Heritage BC for creating a space where these important conversations can continue to grow and we’re excited to see more communities becoming involved in heritage preservation, sustainability, and building reuse across British Columbia.

🏡 In Motion | Residential Series – Every Move Tells a Story
Episode 13 | Pendrell Street House Move, Vancouver
In 2016, we relocated a 1905 home from Pendrell Street in Vancouver’s West End.
By the time we moved it, the house had already been jacked up, placed on steel beams, had the basement walls removed, and was sitting on wheels in a tight alley at Davie and Pendrell.
The move began around 1 a.m. We brought it down Morton Avenue, along Beach Avenue, and onto the beach near the Inukshuk. From there, it was loaded onto a barge and taken through False Creek, passing under the Burrard, Granville, and Cambie Bridges. It was then staged near Olympic Village until the next phase.
Moves like this do not happen alone, we worked closely with TELUS , Shaw , BC Hydro , Westbank Corp , and City of Vancouver - Local Government to keep everything moving safely and smoothly.
That is what we care about, keeping homes in use and helping them continue somewhere new.

Episode 12 | CPR Port Moody (BC) Station Move

For decades, the Port Moody station was where people arrived to begin a new chapter.

From 1907 to 1971, it welcomed multiple generations into the community and became part of everyday life.

In 1978, the Port Moody Heritage Society purchased it. And we relocated the station to 2734 Murray Street, where it could continue to be part of the community.

In 1983, it reopened as the Port Moody Station Museum.

Today, it connects people with the history of this place and the stories that shaped it.

Some buildings are worth moving, not just for what they are, but for what they represent.
