Celebrating cross-border leadership and professional growth! 🇨🇦✈️🇺🇸

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our exceptional young professional members from IRWA Sea-to-Sky Chapter 54!

Please join us in celebrating Monique M., who has officially been awarded an international travel sponsorship to attend the upcoming YP Summit in Omaha, Nebraska! Monique will be heading south to represent British Columbian emerging infrastructure perspective and right-of-way professionals on a international stage.

Investing in the next generation of industry talent is a core mission of Chapter 54. Thanks to the incredible support of the IRWA Young Professionals this sponsorship removes financial barriers to high-level international mentorship. It gives our emerging leaders direct access to cross-border networks, technical workshops, and global best practices.

We know that Monique will do an outstanding job representing the Sea-to-Sky chapter. We can't wait to see the fresh perspectives, skills, and strategic connections they bring back home to elevate our local infrastructure projects in British Columbia.

👉 Safe travels, Monique! Show them how we do things in Chapter 54!

Right of Way (ROW) work has definitely shifted from a "niche" backend utility function to a high-stakes profession at the intersection of property rights and public interest. 🏘️
Did you know? Most people don't go to school for ROW; they "fall into it" through real estate, law, surveying, or government work. Here is how that landscape is currently evolving:
Public Scrutiny: With housing shortages and environmental concerns, the public is much more protective of land. People are no longer just asking "How much are you paying me?" but "How will this affect the local ecosystem and my community's future?" 🌍
ESG Integration: Developers and municipalities are now being held to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. This means ROW agents aren't just negotiating land access; they’re often the first line of defense in managing a project's social license to operate.
Infrastructure Complexity: As we move toward green energy (like wind farms and solar), the sheer volume of new easements or statutory right of ways required is massive. This is turning ROW into a tech-forward field using GIS mapping and digital land management systems to track complex impacts. 🗺️
Economic Impact: The "economic" side has moved beyond simple market value. Agents now have to navigate the long-term impact on property utility, especially as municipalities look for ways to share corridors (multi-use paths alongside utility lines). 🤝

To advance your career with IRWA Chapter 54 (Sea to Sky), is here to assist with bridging your current experience with formal industry recognition.

Please email [email protected], and we will assist you with starting/adding or finishing your credentials. 🎓 Reminder not all members seek SR/WA, some members prefer our approach of small class sizes and ROW specific topics to assist with their comprehension and career growth.

A heartfelt thank you to the International Governing Council for visiting us! Whether you arrived by plane, train, automobile, or ferry, Chapter 54 truly appreciated the opportunity to showcase our beautiful island.
The true spirit of the Olympics was on display: Friendship. It’s the powerful idea that there is more that unites us than divides us, especially when we set aside rivalries to build a better world through networking. (Though we did keep the hockey series results strictly off-limits!)

We loved hosting the International Governing Council and sharing the best of our island. To help our guests find their next 'hidden gem,' Chapter 54 provided exclusive travel kits individually prepared by the talented The Boho Sketch Co.

We hope British Columbia left a lasting impression, and we can’t wait to see you back in our province for your next adventure!
