🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡
September 30

Today, we remember the children who never returned home from residential schools and honour Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Truth and reconciliation is an ongoing journey. Today provides an important opportunity to listen to Indigenous voices, learn about the history and legacy of residential schools, and reflect on what reconciliation means in our communities.

As a place that welcomes visitors to Midland and Southern Georgian Bay, we believe that exploring a region also means taking time to learn about its history and the Indigenous peoples and communities connected to the land. 🌿

🧡 Remember. Listen. Learn. Reflect.

🧡 Honouring Truth & Reconciliation in Georgian Bay 🧡

As we approach National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we take time to listen, learn, remember, and honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. 🧡

Truth and reconciliation is an ongoing journey — one that calls on all of us to learn more about the history and lived experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada and to support meaningful reconciliation in our communities.

🌿 While you’re in the area, make a Sunday morning stop at the Southern Georgian Bay Farmers’ Market! 🥕🍎🌻

Held every Sunday from 9 AM–1 PM, the market is a great way to enjoy local food, handmade goods, and the community spirit of the region. Pick up some local favourites, meet local vendors, and spend a morning exploring downtown Midland before heading out to enjoy more of Georgian Bay. 🌊☀️

🏡 Staying in the area? Make GBay Getaway your home base at The Nest By The Bay or The Perch By The Bay and experience everything Southern Georgian Bay has to offer.
