'Σιαξε το μπαξέ που θες....an old Cretan saying that I've been thinking about a lot lately and when you dig in to it - there is a wealth of wisdom behind this simple statement;
Build the Garden you want.
I've come to realize that life is less about chasing the right opportunities, the right career, or even the right person. It's about building the garden you want to live in.
Every garden begins as empty ground. It takes intention, patience, and consistent effort. You prepare the soil, plant the seeds, water them, and protect them. You don't expect fruit overnight.
Life is no different.
The weeds are the habits, fears, distractions, and relationships that keep us from growing. They don't disappear all at once. You pull them out one by one, making room for something better.
Then you plant with purpose.
Plant discipline. Plant health. Plant meaningful work. Plant friendships. Plant family traditions. Plant generosity. Plant curiosity. Plant love.
Some seeds won't grow. Others will surprise you. But you'll never know unless you're willing to plant them.
The goal isn't to create a perfect garden. The goal is to create one that reflects your values—a place where you can thrive, where the people you love feel at home, and where future generations can enjoy the fruits of what you've built. Your children and grandchildren can be nourished by its fruits and thrive in the beauty of it's bounty.
I've spent too much time worrying about what I've lost or waiting for life to happen.
Instead, I'll ask myself one simple question each day:
"What can I plant today?"
And when I find myself dwelling on negativity, regret, or fear, I'll ask another:
"Am I watering the flowers, or am I feeding the weeds?"
A beautiful garden isn't created in a day.
It's created by showing up every day.
The right people - (not the parasites who thrive on your efforts) the truly genuine, sincere people who show up don't create your garden—they recognize it, appreciate it, and choose to help cultivate it with you.
