When we began making notes, mood boards and drawing up ideas for a wedding-themed collector’s edition of White Ibiza Magazine, we instinctively knew that we needed to enlist a director of photography who didn't just have an amazing eye for shooting and selecting wedding photography – they needed to make us feel the love on every single page. Enter Berlin-born, Ibiza-based photographer Maria Simon Photography, a long-time collaborator and friend of White Ibiza who believes that beauty really is romance. Not only that – she's a self-confessed hopeless romantic.

In addition to spending hundreds of hours poring over photography submissions and curating each and every image you see across our 212 beautiful pages, Maria also sat down with her co-conspirator and fellow romantic, our creative director, , to share the story of how a childhood spent in the austerity of East Berlin in the 1970s and 1980s ultimately led her to the magical Mediterranean island of Ibiza where she now spends her time capturing her clients' own happily-ever-afters.

James sat down with our editorial director Danni Landa and took a trip down memory lane, guiding us through his personal rollercoaster of a journey, from the isolated cattle farm in North Hampshire where he grew up, and the most legendary kitchens in London where he cut his culinary teeth, to the most phenomenal weddings in Ibiza, with all manner of twists, turns, ups and downs in-between.

We don't want to give away any spoilers but yes, there is indeed a happily ever after to this tale.
