A: Only on days ending in Y. 🌊💙

☀️ Q: Will I get a tan if I sit in the shade?
A: Possibly… but we recommend saying hello to the sun at some point! 😎

🍳 Q: What time does breakfast finish?
A: 10:00am. Not 10:07am. Not “just one more minute”. We believe in you! 😂🥐

The Role of a Tea Boy: Beyond the Job Title ☕

In hospitality, titles can sound impressive.

General Manager. Director. Head of Department.

But sometimes the most important role in the building is simply…

Tea Boy.

Because being the Tea Boy doesn’t mean you sit on the sidelines.

It means you know your people.
You know your guests.
You know what is happening on the ground.
And when something needs doing, you get stuck in.

A good Tea Boy:

☕ Makes the tea, and sometimes makes the decisions.

💪 Doesn’t ask people to do something they wouldn’t do themselves.

👊 Gets involved, regardless of the job title.

🧠 Thinks about the business, not just their department.

🤝 Builds relationships with guests, colleagues and suppliers.

🔥 Solves problems instead of looking for someone to blame.

👀 Walks the hotel, listens, watches and understands what is really happening.

But equally important is understanding what a Tea Boy is not.

A Tea Boy is not:

❌ Someone hiding behind a fancy title.

❌ Someone who thinks certain jobs are beneath them.

❌ Someone who manages from behind a desk.

❌ Someone who believes leadership comes from a name badge.

❌ Someone who waits for problems to find them.

Because hospitality doesn’t happen in an office.

It happens at reception.
In housekeeping.
Behind the bar.
In the restaurant.
Around the pool.
And most importantly, with the people and guests who make the hotel what it is.

So yes…

I’m the Tea Boy.

I’ll make the tea.
I’ll carry the boxes.
I’ll speak to the guests.
I’ll get my hands dirty.
I’ll challenge things when they need challenging.
And I’ll make decisions when decisions need making.

Because ultimately, leadership isn’t about the title on your business card.

It’s about your mindset, your attitude, your accountability, and whether you’re prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved.

Sometimes the Tea Boy is the guy running the hotel. ☕😉
