When there isn’t a hand free to pull out another stop, or any space to get to the other side of the bench, it’s good to have a wife on hand to take on the notes while you grab a Trompette! Even more handy that Mishka recorded this piece on the piano years before I ever played it, so after I stole her repertoire she had a chance to reclaim at least one chord of it.
That chord was, as ever, a big C major chord, which is the route to international stardom for any organist, so look out for her name!
Performed earlier this month on the Lépine / Cavaillé-Coll organ in Saint-Jean, Pézenas, in the south of France.
