Families are invited to celebrate the Summer Solstice on Sunday 21st June with a fun-filled day by the sea at RSPB Minsmere, in partnership with National Trust Dunwich Heath.
With free beach games, solar-themed crafts, giant landscape art, and opportunities for beach-combing, there will be plenty to keep visitors of all ages entertained while learning more about Suffolk's unique coastal habitats. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and make a day of it, although refreshments will also be available from the café.
As a special longest-day treat, visitors can head to the Minsmere Café terrace to join the team from DASH Astro for fascinating solar observing sessions, offering a chance to safely explore the wonders of the sun.
Guests are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, including sunscreen and hats if conditions are warm. Please note that Minsmere Beach is shingle with sloping access paths, and swimming is not recommended due to submerged historic coastal defences.
Normal reserve admission charges apply, however entry will be free on Suffolk Day for those able to provide proof of a Suffolk address. A wonderful opportunity to celebrate nature, science, and the longest day of the year on the beautiful Suffolk coast. What a day its going to be!
