We thought you might be interested in the background story to The Birdhouse.
In the early 1980’s Seymour and Lillian bought the property when Seymour retired from farming and running a dairy in Decoy, Newton Abbot.
Chickens were a life long passion of Seymour’s and the large garden here, enabled him to continue with this until his death in 1991.
Over the years it was extended and renovated, Pat, Seymour and Lillian’s daughter moved in; but by 2017 it was decided it would be more cost effective to knock it down and rebuild than to continue to try and repair. Chrissie (Pats daughter) and Martin her husband sold their house to finance this endeavour and the solution was one house where everyone could live. Pat, who was now widowed had family living in and could live in comfort for the rest of her years. Chrissie, Martin their daughters and Buster the collie had a lovely home with a fabulous garden. Win, win.
