Cleaner Seas Group

Cleaner Seas Group A green-tech innovation company based in Bude, Cornwall. Tackling microplastic pollution in our seas.

We are official sponsors of the GB Row Challenge 🇬🇧

🚣 2,000 miles rowing the entire UK’s coastline
🚣 Every boat equipped with scientific gear collecting live environmental data across: sea temperature, underwater noise, biodiversity and microplastics
🚣 Samples delivered to the Revolution Plastics Institute at the University of Portsmouth for vigorous lab testing
🚣 All findings published on The Crown Estate’s Marine Data Exchange

Microplastic pollution is the problem we’ve built our entire business around solving. The scale of what these crews are taking on is MAMOUTH and exactly the kind of above-and-beyond efforts we firmly stand to support.

“Rowing 2,000 miles to understand what’s really happening to the health of our coastlines - that’s exactly the level of determination we’re here for. The data that the crew collect will provide a real-time picture of the health of our British seas. Best of luck, team - see you Sunday.” Dave Miller, CEO, Cleaner Seas Group

📍 See you on Sunday 14th June, Tower Bridge, London GB Row Challenge, let’s gooo!!

The ocean doesn’t need another awareness post today. It needs action 🎬

Incredible to think sea meadows are quietly doing some of the ocean’s heaviest lifting.

🌊 Absorbing 35x more CO₂ than an equivalent area of rainforest.
💔 Yet we’ve destroyed 92% of the UK’s in a century.

Microplastics are part of that story. Clouding the water, cutting off light, smothering the meadows trying to grow back. It’s why filtering them via laundry washing machines before they ever reach the sea is crucial.

Today we want to shout out Matt Hardisty and - a Margate-based initiative with a five-year ambition to capture 2 million tonnes of CO₂ through UK seagrass restoration.

The next crowdfunder is open and they need your support to get there. Donate with link in their bio 👆

✅ Certified Real Employer
✅ Launched our commercial microplastic filters - designed to help the environment, not harm it
✅ Grew partnerships built on collaboration and unity

Our CEO Miller:

“Beyond the badge, it’s about influencing other businesses to look inward. The focus should be leaving the planet in a better state than we found it.”

A huge thank you to , your expertise and refusal to let us off the hook made this possible 🐙

Hospitality talks a lot about sustainability. But one of the industry’s biggest environmental challenges is still hiding in the laundry room.

💡Did you know that a hotel with 100 rooms can wash up to 750 pieces of linen daily?

🧺Across the UK’s hotel industry, that’s an estimated 7.5m pieces of linen washed. With every wash, invisible microfibres are released into our waterways adding an est 500,000 tonnes of microplastics to our ocean’s annually.

🚨For perspective, that’s the equivalent of chucking 50 billion plastic bottles directly into the ocean.

♻️ At Cleaner Seas, we’re redefining sustainable tourism. Not only by intercepting microfibre from washing machines, but directing waste back to our Microfibre Recycling Centre, closing the loop on microplastic pollution.

🌊 People travel to admire the beauty of nature, but in doing so, many unknowingly contribute to microplastic pollution that threatens delicate coastlines, marine life and the long term health of our oceans.

Meet Dan - one of our technical engineers, surfer and ocean defender 🌊

Whether he’s out catching waves or working hard on plugging our microplastic filters in laundry systems, the ocean is at the front and centre of his purpose.

“As a surfer and as someone who lives by the sea - the ocean shapes my whole life”

Proud to mark another year as an accredited Living Wage employer with the 🎉

The Cleaner Seas crew are showing up to deliver our mission: plug in microfibre filter tech into laundry systems worldwide, to prevent microplastics from polluting our oceans ✊🏽

Paying the real Living Wage isn’t just a badge. It’s a commitment to ensuring our people earn a wage that reflects the cost of living and supports a decent standard of living.

You can’t build a responsible business without valuing the people who power it.

🗣️ Cleaner Seas Group Announcement

We’ve partnered with the University of Portsmouth’s Revolution Plastics Institute to tackle one of the most overlooked sources of pollution: microfibres from industrial laundry systems.

From cruise ships to hotel laundries, our washing machine filters are now being deployed in real-world environments, both on land and at sea.

🔬 This research will:

* Analyse what’s being captured
* Quantify microfibre pollution at scale
* Explore how we can stop pollution at source

Awareness & innovative solutions drive action, but scientific research is what will drive industry & legislative change🔬

It’s safe to say there’s plenty of spotlight on water right now 📸 - sewage in UK rivers, microplastics pouring into our oceans and rising concerns over flooding and droughts, adding to water scarcity and communities’ access to clean water.

This is why World Water Day was introduced by the in the 1990s to keep water high on the global agenda.

For businesses, this is a reminder, not just another awareness campaign:

💧Disclose how you use water
💧Help restore what you take
💧Question what pollutants exist in your water as a result of your business activities.

“We can now destroy or we can cherish, the choice is ours.” - David Attenborough

🚨 National survey finds microplastic pollution around Britain’s coastline could be double than previously recorded.

Here’s to the incredible people pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery straight out of the sea. Findings fuelled by 2,000-mile row and research led by reveal significantly higher concentrations of microplastics, likely influenced by rougher seas 🌊
