The Elizabethan Lodge page of events and things happening. “It was proposed by W. Bro. H.H.S. Bishopp and seconded by W. W. Arthur Vale, the S.W., Bro. L.T.

Whittingham and unanimously confirmed by the Brethren present that the Worshipful Master and Wardens of Twynham Lodge sign a Petition in open Lodge, for the founding of a new Lodge to be formed in Christchurch. The Petition was duly signed by the W.M., W. Thompson and the J.W., Bro. W.E. Poole. A.C.G. Seaward, on behalf of the proposed Founders of the proposed Lodge, thanked the W.M. and Brethren of Twynham Lodge for the signing of the Petition.”

With this entry began a new era in the history of Freemasonry in Christchurch which culminated in the Founding of the new Lodge on 20th April, 1953. Much thought had been given to the naming of the new Lodge and a combination of events led to the final choice. A new Queen had ascended the throne during the previous year, giving rise to the era of “The New Elizabethans” and a very fine aeroplane named “The Elizabethan” had been built by a local company, [Airspeed Aircraft] in Christchurch. As a number of the proposed Founders were also associated with the aircraft industry in Christchurch, the choice made, “The Elizabethan Lodge”, was almost inevitable.

🤔 What do the Brothers of Lodge 7262 and Barney have in common? 🐾

They're both on a learning journey! 📚

As Freemasons, we commit ourselves to lifelong learning, personal development and continually striving to improve ourselves.

The top photo shows the Brothers at our October regular meeting at Christchurch Masonic Centre, while the photo below captures Barney putting in the hard work and learning his ritual at last night's monthly class! 🐶

But the big question is… WHO LEARNED IT BETTER? 😂

At the end of the day, Freemasonry isn't just about charity, tradition and self-improvement. It's also about friendship, laughter and having fun along the way!

Fancy finding out more about Freemasonry and what we get up to?

Last night, the Brethren of The Elizabethan Lodge, Christchurch, got together to rehearse for Monday’s 2nd Degree ceremony and regular meeting.

There were plenty of laughs, great camaraderie and a fantastic atmosphere! 👏

It was a great reminder that Freemasonry isn’t just about raising money for charity and supporting our communities — it’s about friendship, fellowship and having fun along the way, too! 🤝😄

This week, The Elizabethan Lodge 7262 installed a new Master — Worshipful Brother Paul Wyeth 👏

An incredible milestone, celebrating 62 years in Freemasonry and taking the Chair of King Solomon for the third time 🔷👑

We were honoured to welcome several distinguished brethren, including the APGM, past APGM, VO, and other esteemed members. A truly memorable evening filled with tradition, camaraderie, and celebration 🤝✨

The festive board was superb — prawn cocktail 🍤, an Easter-themed lamb roast 🍽️, sherry trifle 🍰, cheese and biscuits 🧀 — and, most importantly, we raised hundreds of pounds for local charities ❤️

Freemasonry continues to bring people together through friendship, charity, and shared values.

A fantastic evening of Freemasonry in action 🤝✨

Last night, The Elizabethan Lodge and our mother lodge, Twynham, came together in true fraternal spirit to raise Matt Hay to the degree of Fellowcraft. It was an honour to lend one of our members to Twynham, with The Elizabethan team proudly supporting with elements of the ritual.

Beyond the ceremony, the evening was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and a wonderful festive board — all while raising hundreds for charity 💙

This is what Masonry is all about: unity, support, and making a positive difference.
