Set in a stunning location on the edge of Coniston Water and surrounded by dramatic fells lies Pier Cottage Caravan Park. Overlooking Coniston Water you will find a memorable holiday destination for families who wish to enjoy a range of activities and the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District National Park. The small, family run site offers direct lake access for the water sports enthusiast, nearby walking to suit all levels of ability from a stroll around Tarn Hows to a hike up Coniston Old Man, biking on the doorstep in Grizedale forest and the wonderful Bluebird Cafe just a short walk along the shore for replenishing energy levels! Our ‘uni-bollards’ (on every pitch) provide an electric hook-up, water and TV signal connection point.

Being brought back to basics during our recent power cut reminded us that going forwards it makes sense to prepare differently.

It’s strategically timed in one way because as most of you know, we are heading towards rebuilding the loo/shower block for our little caravan park.

We were already looking to use solar panels, but this power cut is making us look into what more we can do to keep things going during times without electric.

How has everyone prepared their homes to cope when the power goes off?

What are all your wonderful ideas? What do you recommend?

Well feast your eyes on that Pier Cottage family - lights working IN REAL LIFE!!!

The electric came back on around 6pm (whilst I popped out 🙄).

Samphire has not fared well and needs some TLC… the other boats seem ok.

It was wild during the night.
