The view from our rear terrace is quite spectacular- so it comes as no surprise when we catch someone capturing it for a forever memory.

Across the 1970s and 80s, the old industrial buildings of Dean Village were renovated rather than demolished- and now the area is one of the most photogenic in the city.

Don't forget to look up!

Part of the draw for our guests is the incredible preservation of the original house details. Our beautiful main hall ceiling is decorated with impressive zodiac artwork.

Does our staircase look familiar?

Those with a sharp eye (or a good knowledge of Edinburgh's history) might spot that it looks awfully similar to a particular set of stairs near a famous city hotel.

The Scotsman Steps were built between 1899 and 1902 as part of the construction of the building housing The Scotsman newspaper (now The Scotsman Hotel.)

Many of you are familiar with the beautiful details at the entrance to our building, but have you ever seen it from the back?

Our bedrooms at this side of the hotel overlook historic Dean Village, once a busy nineteenth century area that brought in blacksmiths, textile workers, and millers.

Then and Now ...

The ceiling in our Rothesay Room is something to be marvelled. Guests are always wowed by it's detail, painted with a fresco featuring the signs of the zodiac, while the stained glass in the windows features the initials of the original 1870's owners, Sir John and Susan Findlay.

We’re delighted to be featured in The Times as one of the best affordable hotels in Edinburgh under £200.

🥃 Named 'Best for whisky fans', they highlighted our peaceful Georgian setting, tucked just away from the city centre, along with the small touches our guests love, from the wood panelled library and fireside cream teas to a residents’ bar well stocked with whisky.
