That’s the busy summer season done ☀️

Onwards to winter bookings ⛄️

But, more importantly, a very happy 12th birthday to my most loved special friend 🐾❤️

It’s that time of year again when the hills turn purple and smell amazing when the sun is shining.

Extra bonus….no silly temperatures like down south or across much of Europe. Scotland is becoming a go-to destination for the perfect “coolcation” (horrible word, but it gets the point across).

Still some late summer availability at Glenburn and Ballin Dhu for a little getaway.

I always aim to support local, or at least Scottish, craftspeople when furnishing Glenburn.

How about this trio…

Wh**ky stave chairs by Adam at Custom Casks

Carved salmon boot jack by Stuart Murdoch, sculptor

Highland coo companion set by Sean Cockburn Blacksmith Thistle Forge

Each item is chosen by me because I love the design, quality and sense of individuality they provide the lodge. Always something new to see 😊

I’m proud to be a small part of the Great Scottish Holidays campaign. A heartfelt thank you to all of my guests. In the words of the campaign, this is why it means so much that you opted to stay in my lodge….

A thank you to the guests who choose to stay in self-catering accommodation and in doing so, make a real difference to the places they visit.
Because that choice matters.

When guests book a self-catering stay, they are not just choosing where to sleep. They are supporting a much wider network of local businesses – from cafés and restaurants to shops, activity providers and visitor attractions. Together, these businesses help sustain rural, coastal and urban communities right across Scotland.

Self-catering businesses themselves are typically small, independent micro-enterprises. They form a vital part of Scotland’s tourism bedstock – particularly in areas where other accommodation options may be limited. Their presence helps ensure visitors can stay, explore and contribute to local economies year-round.

At the same time, self-catering relies on those same communities to thrive. The quality of the local experience – the places to eat, visit and enjoy – is what makes a stay memorable. It is a shared ecosystem, where each part depends on the others.

You’ll find current availability, plus lots of links to ‘the ecosystem’ at www.glenburn-speyside.co.uk

Beautiful roses as a romantic surprise for one of today’s arriving guests. Thank you to Petals & Bows for such a lovely bouquet.

I’ll always do my best to supply any extras that guests may request. Not been beaten yet!
