A short window has just opened up at Cairn D**e, our three-bedroom lodge at Gatehouse Luxury Lodges, sleeping six.

Monday 21st to Thursday 24th September, three nights, wood burner going and that view over the Solway Firth to sit with in the evenings.

Not something we usually have available this close to the date. If a quick escape to Dumfries and Galloway has been on your mind, drop me a message and I'll sort the details with you directly.

This lodge doesn't take pets.

6am, Friday 14 May 2027. While the town still sleeps, the Genesis Gralloch Ultra presented by Maxxis rolls out.

320km through the wildest terrain Galloway has. The first riders out. The longest day of the lot. Not a race. A reckoning with distance, weather, and the parts of yourself you only meet past the 200th kilometre.

A guest wrote this after her stay in May: 'The views out of the large glass wall never got tiring. It was lovely to see birds and wild rabbits every day, we were also lucky enough to be visited by a hare.' She booked a return visit before she'd even left.

There's a particular kind of quiet in this last long weekend of summer.

The light's turning gold a little earlier now. The evenings still stretch out on the decking, though, glass in hand, the Solway Firth doing what it does best.

A few dates are still open over the next month if you fancy joining us before autumn properly arrives.
