Storm warnings for our area. Stay safe, all!
Most people will see this post in the morning, for Ayrshire Storm Boelo continues with an amber warning for wind valid until 21:00 tonight, please only travel if your journey is absolutely necessary.
Lots of damage has been caused overnight however what’s been particularly hard to see is the amount of flooding in coastal towns including Largs & Saltcoats, we have also seen videos showing the Ayr seafront defence wall completely under water along with the road.
High tide is expected again at 7AM this morning lasting until 2PM this afternoon, please avoid coastal areas including Ayr sea front with SEPA issuing Flood warnings between Ayr & Troon and also Largs.
Trains between Ayr/Ardrossan & Kilwinning will not be operating this morning, with the continued Amber warning and potential damage to the network it’s very unlikely trains will run today.
Buses are subject to delays and cancellations especially with any potential diversions caused by fallen trees or debris/flooding.
The chart below shows the expected wind gusts at 12PM with some areas along the coast still exceeding 70MPH, the length of time of such strong winds is likely to cause further damage.
