At The Sunray, sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s built into the ground beneath us. 🐝
Our own private borehole draws water straight from the earth, filtered on-site for clean drinking water without relying on mains supply. Our energy comes from the sun, captured by the panels on our roof. And every choice we make, from how we build to how we landscape, is made with one question in mind: how do we tread more lightly on the environment around us?
This week, we’re taking you behind the scenes of what that actually looks like.
This is where it starts. 💧
Rather than draw on mains water, we drilled our own private borehole — going straight to the source, deep in the ground, for a water supply that’s entirely our own. It’s a big undertaking, but it means The Sunray isn’t dependent on external supply chains for one of the most basic things we need.
The result of that borehole: water this clean, straight from the ground and through our own filtration plant. 🚰
No shortcuts — just a private supply, properly filtered on-site, so what comes out of the tap is as clean as what went into the ground. It’s a small everyday thing that we don’t take for granted.
The sun does a lot of the heavy lifting around here. ☀️
Our roof array captures energy straight from daylight, cutting down what we pull from the grid and putting a renewable source to work on-site. It’s one of the simplest ways we’ve found to power The Sunray more responsibly.
Respecting the environment means sharing it. 🦇
Tucked into the roofline, this bat box gives local bat populations a place to roost undisturbed — a small addition that makes a real difference to the wildlife that was here before we were.
This bat box sits high in the trees surrounding The Sunray, giving bats a quiet, natural roosting spot away from the building itself. Protecting the wildlife around us is as much a part of the build as anything el
