It’s lovely seeing ‘back to school’ pics appearing on my newsfeed. With Lucy 24 and Evie 20, it’s been a few years since I’ve joined in the trend!

Wow! Once again, you’ve kept us very busy this summer! Thank you so much!

The school holidays seem to have gone in a flash! We have been delighted to welcome fabulous new guests over the summer period, as well as returning guests! We hope that you have made lovely memories during your stay at Vine Cottage and we thank you for all the lovely reviews that we have received.

We hope that those families with children, settle back into the new academic year well, and the teachers amongst you too!

We have some limited availability in September and October, and more choice of availability in November and December if anyone is looking to book a relaxing week, or short break.

Last night, John and I had a date night at Owd Nell’s Thatched Hamlet, just 20 minutes drive from Vine Cottage.

We used to go there regularly in our teens and early twenties and was disappointed when it closed abruptly earlier this year. Thankfully it has reopened under new management, and it is absolutely thriving.

Located by the canalside, there is lots of seating outside, with live entertainment throughout Saturday afternoons and early evenings.

There are exciting developments ahead with the former ‘Guy’s Court’ Italian restaurant being transformed into a brand new wedding venue later this year.

I’d mentioned Owd Nell’s to recent guests who were going to visit neighbouring Barton Grange Garden Centre. They messaged me to say they’d thoroughly enjoyed it. So, curiously, we visited ourselves last night.

We were glad that we booked a table as all seating inside and out appeared taken. John had burger (no surprise there!) and I had the Seafood Board. Both were absolutely delicious and we will certainly be visiting again soon.

We may need to wait until 2090 for the next solar eclipse, but we get some cracking sunsets along the Fylde coast!

Always worth a trip to the coast lines of Pilling, Knott End, Cleveleys and Fleetwood during your stay at Vine Cottage. The sunsets from the hot tub aren’t bad either!

The buntings are out throughout the village - it’s Coffee Feast Day! (Pilling’s village fair/gala)

Our Lucy was the Coffee Feast Queen in 2013, and Evie was part of the Queen’s retinue in 2011.
And John, well he was ‘like a pig in muck’ driving his old Fergie tractor towing the trailer for Queen Lucy! (Happy birthday John!)

The Coffee Feast has grown and evolved over the years. There’s a procession through the village, and then lots of activities and entertainment at the village hall later. With races, circus skills, BBQ and bands playing there’s something for everyone. There’s also the much anticipated ‘tug of war’ between Pilling and Eagland Hill (local neighbouring hamlet)! All put together by a fabulous team of volunteers.

We are looking forward to a good do!
