🥂 A lovely day celebrating my 60th Birthday. 🥂

🎈 A beautiful balloon decoration which my husband ordered from Party Palace. A local lady who delivers to the Lodge. If you have a celebration whilst visiting, Vanessa Haw is your lady.
Vanessa gifted me a beautiful bouquet of Chocolates which she also supplies and adapts for any occasion.
Vanessa and I have been friends for 25 years. Our weekends used to be filled with dancing and Black Vodka. Now a days we opt for a Saturday afternoon tea party 😊

My husband ordered me the BEST birthday cake I’ve ever received. Me down to a Tee.

🎂 The cake was created by a local lady Cakezilla who also delivers to the lodge for those special occasions and the lady is called Sarah Dolby

Sarah has been friends with my daughter for many years. It was only on Sarah’s wedding day when my daughter sent photos, that I realised her Dad gave me away at our wedding. We had been friends with her Dad for many years through work without realising the connection.

When Sarah received the photo of me in a wedding dress stood next to her Dad suited & booted, did she question if her Dad had married someone else without her Mum knowing 😆

I would like to say a big thank you for making my birthday a special one. One I will always remember. Xx

I've been thinking a lot recently about first impressions.

Not the first impression guests get when they arrive...

The one they get long before that.

Long before they've spoken to you.

Long before they've booked.

Long before they've even decided whether your place is right for them.

By then, your business has already been telling them a story.

Your pricing tells a story.

Your photographs tell a story.

Your website tells a story.

Your reviews tell a story.

Your minimum stay tells a story.

Even the emails you send - or don't send - are shaping expectations.

On their own, those things might seem like small details.

But together, they create a feeling.

That's why some accommodation businesses feel so easy to book.

Not because they're the cheapest.

Not because they've got the fanciest website.

But because everything feels consistent.

Guests instinctively understand who the business is for.

The owners know exactly who they're trying to attract.

Nothing feels confused.

Everything points in the same direction.

When those messages become mixed, guests hesitate.

When they reinforce one another, the right guests often recognise they've found exactly what they've been looking for.

Not because they've been persuaded.

Because everything already feels right.
