Last week the BASC Central team worked with Nottinghamshire Police Force, for a hands on training day at Thoresby Estate.
We offered advice on fi****ms legislation, the differences between legal and illegal deer stalking and poaching, all with the aim to support officers responding to offences in our rural communities.

Andrew Churchman, member of a small syndicate in Derbyshire, explains why his shoot matters to him. It brings young people into the countryside, gets friends and family out together and feeds songbirds as well as gamebirds throughout the winter.

Brailsford Ploughing Match 2026 🚜

Thank you to everyone who came to say hello at Brailsford Match yesterday.
It was great to catch up with lots of local game keepers, pest controllers, farmers and shooters.
Discussions about the transition onto steel shot, certificate renewals and how to respond the Defra`s call for evidence, kept the Central team busy all day.
We also met lots of primary school children from the surrounding area who had lots of wildlife species knowledge and ask us some great questions.........We also won first prize for best small trade stand 🏆
