Today, I (Vikki Brooks - Mac's Operational Support) took the opportunity of meeting up with Mj Ladybiker for a spot of breakfast and a cuppa.

We were both sporting our Mac Motorcycles Merch, so a gold star for us!!

Through her role with the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF), we first connected when Maxine visited our HQ in South Yorkshire to meet with Ian, and we soon realised we had a lot in common, lived close to each other and are both women in business.

Today’s Tea Break Tuesday is all about what makes Mac different…

Recently we read a comment about how our UK built Macs are more expensive than off-the-shelf bikes... well yes, and we’ve never set out to compete in that market, how could we and why would we?

At Mac, we invite you to come and see where we’ll build your bike – you can even come and see it being assembled if you like.

When you buy a Mac you get to say what you want, it’s a conversation with someone who’s seen the bike through its entire development, from concept to what you see in front of you.

Last week we were asked by a customer which elements of their bike they could specify to their requirements, and the list was surprisingly long:

Tank colour - Your tank will be made by Ascerbis in Italy – your choice of colour and special finishes from The Smallest Cog in Hereford

Bodywork – from our supplier in the Midlands, again your choice of colours / finish

Frame colours, including metallics to make your frame really stand out, supplied by Caged Laser in Radstock near Bath

Brakes – choose from Brembo or our beautifully engineered billet units from helperformance.com, you also get a choice of master cylinder

Seat upholstery, padding stiffness, thickness and colours – you choose what looks good and feels right for you

Handlebars – select from clip ons and a large range of upright bars to get a set-up that makes your riding as comfortable as it is fun

Radiator and Air box, we’ve done the engineering, you decide on the finish, we make it a reality with AlliSport, our UK supplier

Wheels and tyres – choose a combination that fits with where/how you ride with the look you love

Grips – we have a standard set or you can choose something that’s familiar, if you like

Bolt-on parts such as exhaust hangers, headlamp brackets – again you can choose your colour of powder-coat or go for stainless, brushed or polished, it’s up to you

If that sounds like too much choice – no problem, once we’ve had a chat we’re more than happy to recommend a set-up that’ll work for you

We’ll never be mass-market or sell lots of bikes to lots of people, but.......

If you want a beautifully engineered, gutsy British single in your life that’s built just the way you like, get in touch.

If not, no problem - whatever you choose to ride, we want you to enjoy it because that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

If you are yet to meet one of our bikes in the flesh, we recorded this video a few months ago, where Ian did a walk around the bikes to show you the various bolt-on parts we use.

Hands up - who's bought a mass produced bike, got it home, and made some tweaks to it as it's "just not quite right"?

Here at Mac, we know how frustrating this is from our own experiences and let's be honest, a lot of us like to personalise our bikes in some way if it's going to be a "keeper".

It is important to us that each customer is an integral part of the build, so the bike you ride away on, is one that is set up for you.

This is why we are a small quantity, built to order business - it's as simple as that.

Test Rides - Update

We are currently booking in test rides for Friday's and weekends, as the rest of the week is preserved for builds and development.

Bookings are now open for June, and reserving your slot is really easy.

You can fill in the 'Contact Us' form on the website, or email Vikki on [email protected] to book your slot.

When you visit us, you will have plenty of time to chat with Ian about the bikes, head out for a test ride, then back to HQ for a further chat and a cuppa.

If you have only just started following us, you may not know that we appeared in Episode 6 of Richard Hammond's Workshop with The Smallest Cog.

The series was originally aired last year on discovery+, but you can now head on over to Quest to watch it for free!!

You will be able to watch the team spraying one of our tanks (with some unusual ingredients), then we head off to the Isle of Man TT Races where Richard rode one of our bikes on the Legacy Lap.
