Sharing some exciting KCC updates. 😄
Earlier this year we were appproved for the Kerry Community Support Fund for adaptive equipment. Following our Pan-Ability summer programme, we decided to purchase a fusion style kayak, with more stability stability that a standard GP river boat, better outfitting, adjustable footpegs, and a wider cockpit that may be more beneficial for some participants that use wheelchairs.

We were also very honoured to be short-listed for the Kerry Community Awards in recent weeks. Volunteers and participants enjoyed an evening in Tralee celebrating fellow community driven initiatives. We also have a plaque to hang up in our clubhouse!

Plenty of action over the summer. Lake and sea kayaking trips, along with weekday social paddles. Junior program wrapped up after a fun summer and club BBQ was a hit as always. And it rained as always😄 Special mention to our newly qualified paddlers - well done guys!

It's been a pleasure welcoming scouts over the last few weeks, with Cubs, Scouts and Venturers all taking to the water.

From essential water safety, rescue skills, kayaking games, and of course exploring our local waterways, it's been brilliant to see their enthusiasm and confidence grow on the water.

Well done to the Venture Scouts on their Level 2 Canoe Skills Award – a fantastic achievement and well deserved.

A big thank you to all the club instructors and volunteers, scout leaders and everyone who helped make these sessions such a success. We look forward to welcoming you back on the water soon! 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️⚜️

Kerry Canoe Club members were delighted to spend time on the water with a fabulous bunch of teens last week. Last Sunday we partnered up with (KRSP) Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership to host a pan-disability "come and try it" event for teens. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces and welcome a few new ones.

Huge thanks to all the participants for taking part and bringing the fun, and to the volunteers who assisted on the day.

Also huge thanks to Kerry College Killorglin Campus, Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre and Munster Technological University for the additional equipment supports, it is greatly appreciated.

Members making the most of April and longer days at last 🐳 Blessed with a choice of rivers to paddle - Lower Caragh is a gem right on our doorstep, and the Roughty was running for a bit more advanced paddling. Our thanks to Caragh Outdoors for coastal navigation training, prepping for some sea kayaking trips. Plenty paddling ahead 😍
