A Note Before You Book — Please Read

Tai Lue Homestay & Arts is a genuine village stay in Ban Nayangtai, not a hotel.
We want you to arrive with the right expectations, so please read this first.

THE VILLAGE
Ban Nayangtai is a real, working Tai Lue village — not a resort. The road in is
rural and unpaved in places, and infrastructure is simple by design. This isn't
a shortcoming we're working to fix; it's part of experiencing village life as it
actually is.

THE HOUSES
You'll sleep in a traditional wooden stilt house. Like any wooden village home,
the walls are not soundproofed — you may hear other guests, village life, roosters,
and nature after dark. This openness is simply part of staying somewhere real.

THE BEDDING
All bedding is handwoven by our own community on traditional looms — not factory
linen. It's warm, made with real care, and part of what you're actually here for —
but it will feel different from a hotel mattress and sheets. Most guests find this
one of the most memorable parts of their stay once they know what to expect.

THE FOOD
We serve authentic Tai Lue home cooking only, with sticky rice at nearly every
meal — there is no Western menu and no imported alternative. Tell us about any
dietary restrictions in advance and we'll do our best within what the village
can prepare.

IN SHORT
If you're looking for polish and five-star predictability, this probably isn't
the right stay for you. If you're looking for something real — simple living,
warm hospitality, and a genuine window into Tai Lue life — you'll feel at home.

Three days. Two nights. A thousand years of living heritage.

This week, a family from Europe — parents and their two young sons — didn’t just visit Ban Nayangtai. They spent three days living inside a story that has been passed down here for nearly 1,000 years.

Day 1 — Arrival, rice, and rhythm
They arrived to the sound of the village itself: traditional music played live by elders, instruments and songs never written down, only remembered voice to voice, generation to generation. In the afternoon, they walked the paddies and heard the story behind the rice — how it has shaped Tai Lue life for centuries, and still does.

Day 2 — Craft, fire, and flavour
Under a village artisan’s guidance, small hands learned to bend and weave bamboo the way their grandparents’ grandparents did. At the forge, the boys watched sparks fly as a blacksmith shaped iron the traditional way — a craft that once kept every farming tool in the village running, and now risks being lost. That evening, flour-dusted hands and a lot of laughter, as the family cooked traditional Tai Lue dishes alongside their host family. Food here is never just food. It’s memory.

Day 3 — A blessing to send them home
Before they left, the family sat for a Baci ceremony: white strings tied gently around their wrists by village elders, blessings spoken for health, happiness, and safe travels home.

None of it was a performance. It was daily life, shared over three days.

Every guest who stays with us in Ban Nayangtai isn’t just having an experience. They’re directly supporting the 50+ community members who keep these traditions alive — the weavers, the farmers, the blacksmiths, the elders who still remember the old songs.

This is what community-based tourism looks like: culture preserved not in a museum, but in practice.
