Now at for a couple of nights before flying home. Very changed from when I was last here about 20 years ago (not counting lunch on Sunday!) but still very special and very beautiful. Miles and miles of beach. Gorgeous to sit on my little terrace and listen to the sea.

I went for a walk last night at dusk - and it rained! Only a tiny bit, but still …. Thirsty earth. But mainly it was to see what progress had been made with the repairs to the great and ancient city walls. It’s certainly happening but soooooo slow. Rebuilding badly damaged sections, and then repainting. And paving spacious areas around the walls. It’s going to look good when it’s done, but how long will it take?

Walking around outside the city walls as the sun is going down …. So quiet. So lovely being here.
