Kepong is such a food heaven, especially for tong sui lovers! 🥰 With so many tong sui shops around, we had a hard time deciding which one to try. We finally settled on 小兔糖水Bunny Tong Seui 🐰🍧 and ordered their adorable jiggly bunny dessert — so wobbly and cute, it was almost too pretty to eat! 😂🐇 The peanut paste was smooth, rich and nutty, making it a comforting classic. A simple, cute and satisfying dessert stop! ✨

Restaurant Ah Wang Wintermelon Steamboat in Menjalara is a cosy spot for a comforting steamboat meal 🍲✨ We ordered their signature Collagen Wintermelon Soup Base, which has a naturally sweet and refreshing flavour that makes the perfect broth for cooking all the ingredients. What makes the experience even more interesting is that after we finished eating the ingredients, they cut the wintermelon and almost like getting a second course from the same soup pot, we continued till every drop is polished off! 🍈🥰 The wintermelon was soft, naturally sweet and wonderfully refreshing after the hearty steamboat. It’s definitely a different experience from the usual steamboat soup bases. If you’re looking for something comforting yet a little different, this is one wintermelon steamboat worth trying! 🍲✨

麺屋 天晴 Menya Appare at The Gardens Mall is a great spot for Japanese ramen lovers 🍜 Known for its rich and flavourful tonkotsu broth, the ramen here comes with plenty of choices, from classic Tonkotsu and Shoyu Tonkotsu to Black Garlic, Miso and Spicy Tonkotsu. The broth is thick, creamy and packed with depth, while you can customise your noodles to your preferred thickness and texture. Besides ramen, they also serve tsukemen, Tokyo-style abura soba, grilled dumplings, karaage and char siew rice bowls, making it easy to find something for everyone. Located on the 3rd floor of Isetan at The Gardens Mall, the restaurant has a cosy Japanese ramen-counter feel and is a convenient stop whenever we're around Mid Valley. 🍜✨

ULU YAM LAMA 车头9657篮球场卤面 9657 Basketball Court Loh Mee is a humble old-school spot in Ulu Yam Lama serving comforting Hokkien-style loh mee 🍜✨ The thick, springy noodles are coated in a rich, savoury dark gravy, bringing that familiar nostalgic flavour. We had tried the stir-fried chee cheong fun from another stall before and really enjoyed it, so we were hoping to have it again here. Unfortunately, it wasn’t on the menu, which was a little disappointing as it is another specialty Ulu Yam is known for. Nevertheless, if you're in Ulu Yam Lama and craving a simple bowl of traditional loh mee, this is still a no-frills spot worth checking out. 🍜

R's Garden Cafe is a charming Muslim-owned, hidden gem garden café in Puchong, uniquely converted from a corner-lot house into a beautiful garden dining space 🌿🌸✨ Surrounded by lush greenery, plants and a relaxed outdoor setting, it feels more like enjoying a meal in someone's beautiful garden than dining in a typical restaurant. The café serves a delicious selection of Malaysian favourites with influences from Kelantanese cuisine, including comforting nasi kerabu, nasi dagang and Laksa Johor. The homely atmosphere and beautiful garden setting are definitely contribute part of the attraction. 🌿🍛☕

Sin Teo Heng 潮興飯粥店 is an old-school Klang institution that has been serving comforting Teochew porridge since 1959 🍚 A classic Teochew porridge meal is all about enjoying a simple bowl of ngam-ngam (just right) warm rice porridge with a spread of small, flavourful dishes, and here, the cooked dishes are displayed in open trays at the ordering counter for you to choose from. One of the must-haves is the lor bak, tender soy-braised pork belly served with tofu puffs and hard-boiled eggs. Another standout is the asam fish, using fried mackerel or yellowtail stewed in a bold combination of tamarind, dried chillies and salted mustard greens, with an interesting hint of sweetness. Don't forget the boey chai, a stewed pickled and salted mustard vegetable that is a must-have accompaniment, as its savoury saltiness adds the perfect contrast to the mild rice porridge. Simple, nostalgic and full of traditional flavours, Sin Teo Heng is the kind of place where generations of Klang locals return for a comforting breakfast or lunch.

doudoubake in SS4, Petaling Jaya is a charming bakery café tucked away in a quiet corner of Taman Rasa Sayang. Opened in 2020, Dou Dou Bake is known for its naturally fermented and carefully crafted bakes, where no shortcuts are taken in the baking process. The minimalist space, with its large windows and peaceful surroundings, creates a cosy and relaxing atmosphere for a slow morning or a catch-up over coffee. Their pastries are the real stars here, especially the beautifully flaky croissants and artisan breads that make this little bakery a favourite among PJ café hoppers. If you love the simple pleasure of warm pastries and a good cup of coffee, Dou Dou Bake is definitely a lovely spot to add to your café-hopping list. 🌿☕🥐
