What a day we've had with our travel partners at Mirima Kibale Lodge!

It began with a misty morning breakfast by the lake before everyone headed into Kibale Forest to track chimpanzees.

Back at the lodge, a good meal was waiting, followed by an afternoon of local stories, music and dance with the Gorilla Junction community group.

By evening, we were gathered around a beautifully laid table by the pool, sharing food and conversation as the sun went down. What a merry way to end a day in Kibale!

We're delighted to welcome our travel partners to Mirima Kibale Lodge for the next two nights!

Nkuringo Eco Collection has organised this familiarization trip in collaboration with Aerolink Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority, giving our visiting partners the opportunity to experience Mirima, spend time with our team, and explore Kibale, including chimpanzee tracking in the forest.

There's a lot to discover here, and we're especially looking forward to the conversations, shared experiences, and fresh perspectives that come from spending time together in the destination.

Mirima’s location was carefully chosen to create that bond with a place that makes you want to stay a little longer.

Vast tea plantations give this part of Kibale its character, the rainforest spreads its deep emerald green across the horizon, the crater lakes add a beautiful sense of calm to the landscape.

There's something about being surrounded by so much green, with so much space to wander and explore, that makes you wish you'd booked a few more nights.

The fireplace beside Kyanda Bar sits at one of the highest points at Mirima.

From here, Lake Nyamirima lies below you, with views stretching over our coffee plantation and pocket forest, across the tea fields, and all the way to Kibale Forest.

Some mornings at Mirima make it very easy to stay exactly where you are.

The sun rises over Kibale, slips through the reception windows and paints the lounge gold. Outside, mist still hangs over the coffee plantation.

Everywhere you stand, sit or slouch at Mirima has a way of making you feel like you belong.

You see it in the people who work here. You feel it in the spaces around you and in the easy pace of the place.

Then take a walk down into Mirima’s pocket forest, tucked between the two crater lakes, and the mood changes completely. The lodge disappears behind you, the forest closes in, and suddenly there is another side of Mirima to explore.

One more reason to stay a little longer.

A day at Mirima unfolds at a softer pace.

Mornings take their time. Much of what reaches your plate begins close by, grown in our garden and picked for the kitchen. And as the day goes on, there’s little reason to hurry it along.

By evening, the fire is lit, the w**e is poured, and you realise how good it feels to have nowhere else to be.

Stay two or three nights. Give Kibale time.

Some of the best moments at Mirima show up when nothing much is happening. Silence.

A slow evening by the fireplace on the Kyanda Bar terrace. A walk through Bigodi. The forest going almost completely still when the chimpanzees settle down to eat. Then the sudden flap of a turaco disappearing through the trees.

This part of Kibale rewards those with enough time.

Stay two or three nights and let the place unfold at its own pace.

Today, our thoughts are with the people of Tooro as they mourn the passing of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

For nearly three decades, His Majesty was an important part of the life of the Kingdom, and his passing will be felt deeply across Tooro and beyond.

Through Mirima Kibale Lodge, Tooro is part of our everyday life too — in the landscape around us, in the people we work alongside, and in the culture and traditions that shape this place. Today, we mourn with the community.

Our heartfelt condolences go to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro, and everyone mourning this loss.
