A Charleston County sheriff’s deputy has died following a multi-vehicle collision that shut down Ladson Road for several hours Wednesday, officials confirmed.

🚨🚨SLED Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Southeast Park Area; Two Officers Injured

COLUMBIA SC — The Columbia Police (CPD) is responding to an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning in the Southeast Park area of Columbia.

Two CPD officers were injured during the incident. At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the officer-involved shooting. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is also assisting with the investigation.

Because this remains an active and ongoing investigation, additional details are limited at this time. CPD asks members of the public and media to avoid the immediate area as investigators continue their work.

Additional information regarding the incident will be provided by 3:00 p.m. today.

CPD appreciates the public’s patience as investigators work to gather and confirm the facts surrounding this incident.

What a great night at our Comedy Date Night. If you get a chance to see James Yon or Kenny Ryan, absolutely do it!!!!! They were amazing. We haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Both are from LEO families and great people. True friends to Law Enforcement. Book them for your next event, you won't be disappointed at all.
