🎃🕯️ SPECIAL EDITION: MARY SHELLEY, VILLA DIODATI & THE NIGHT FRANKENSTEIN WAS BORN ⚡🌹

Well, here we are! Halloween night has arrived, and tonight we’re wrapping up our 2026 Halloween Special Edition with one last haunting journey into literary history! 👻

And I couldn’t think of a better way to end this year’s collection than with Mary Shelley and the extraordinary summer that gave us Frankenstein.

Imagine the year 1816. Strange weather has settled over Europe, and a small gathering of writers finds itself at Villa Diodati, overlooking Lake Geneva.

Among them is an eighteen-year-old Mary Godwin, the future Mary Shelley, alongside Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, and John Polidori.

What began as a challenge to write ghost stories would change literary history forever.

But what fascinates me most is everything surrounding that remarkable gathering. A terrifying scream from Percy Shelley. Conversations about life, death, and the possibility of reanimation. Mary’s extraordinary waking vision. And the unsettling reports of premonitions that would later become part of the Shelley family’s story.

There’s something wonderfully eerie about a gathering intended to invent frightening stories becoming a story of its own. 🕯️

And then there’s Mary herself.

She didn’t simply create a monster. She imagined a being capable of suffering, loneliness, and a desperate longing to be loved. Beneath the horror, she gave us something profoundly human. 🌹

I’ve truly enjoyed sharing these haunted literary journeys with you throughout October, and I hope you’ll join me tonight for our grand finale.

🍂👻 A Ghost Tour, Two Historic Homes, and a Little Mystery in Acworth, Georgia! 🌙

Sometimes the most fascinating stories are waiting practically in our own backyard!

Recently, my friend Pam and I went on a ghost tour through historic Acworth, Georgia, and what a fun evening we had! Walking through town, listening to the ghost stories, and learning a little about the people who once called these beautiful old homes their own was right up my alley. 🕯️

But there were two houses in particular that really caught my attention: Serendipity House and the James Lile Lemon House.

Of course, anyone who knows me knows I wasn’t going to leave those stories alone! 😂🔎

I came home wanting to know more. Who were the people who lived there? What had these houses witnessed over the generations? And how much of the haunting folklore could be traced through their actual histories?

Well, one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was deep into researching Victorian Acworth, the Civil War, family histories, and some rather intriguing ghost stories!

That’s one of the things I love most about exploring the paranormal. Sometimes a simple evening out with a friend leads you down a historical rabbit hole you never expected to find. 💜

For my newest Halloween Special Edition of The Oracle of the Green Sight, I’m taking you along as we explore the fascinating histories and reported hauntings of these two remarkable homes.

And as always, I wanted to look beyond the ghost stories to discover the real people and events behind them.

🕯️ SPECIAL EDITION: LORD BYRON & THE BLACK FRIAR OF NEWSTEAD ABBEY 👻

Some ghost stories are born around a fire. Others are passed down through generations, clinging to the walls of places that have witnessed centuries of history.

And then there’s the Black Friar of Newstead Abbey.

I’ve always been fascinated by the darker side of literary history, particularly when the lives of extraordinary writers become entangled with ghost stories of their own.

Lord Byron is remembered for his poetry, scandalous reputation, and larger-than-life personality. But his ancestral home, Newstead Abbey, carried a chilling legend: a mysterious hooded friar whose appearance was said to foretell misfortune.

What makes this story especially intriguing is the way the haunting became intertwined with Byron’s own life and the history of the abbey.
