FSGCC Held its end of the season luncheon meeting on Tuesday May 19th at The Old Crossing restaurant in Cheraw (formerly The W**e Factory). Our new season will begin in September. Boysenberries are growing In South Carolina. FSGCC President Kimberly Maness got her first harvest from her Boysenberry experiment and shares her experience.
“Ok-As an experiment I started 2 bushes 3 yrs ago from fast growing trees. I didn't amend soil, just put them in the ground adding some fertilizer, Berry Tone in spring, Pruning old canes in March explodes new growth. This season starting off great. Boysenberries are a cross between blackberry, raspberry and loganberries. They make an incredible syrup and dessert or fresh eating off the cane!”

Debbie Durovey and Jill Wentz hosted an amazing seed swap with refreshments.
A new member was inducted.
Our next meeting is April 21st at 10:00 AM at the Cheraw library where there will be a presentation on bee keeping. This event is open to the community. The FSGCC gathered for their February meeting on the 16th, radiating enthusiasm and warmth, as they welcomed Janice Atkinson, proprietor of The Little Florist In Bishopsville, one of 150 exceptional volunteers nationwide selected to create enchanting displays at The White House for the 2025 Christmas Season. Through captivating photographs, personal anecdotes, and heartfelt recognition from the State of South Carolina, The White House, and Melania Trump, Janice shared the profound impact of her experience, inspiring a lasting sense of purpose and joy in all who listened.

The Four Seasons Garden Club held its January meeting today, extending a warm welcome to new members Mollie Phillips and Ralph Ziobrowski.
The club's guest speaker for January was Master Gardener Lucille Schauer of Blooms for Life Farm in Wallace, who delivered a presentation on preparing garden soil for the upcoming spring season. Be sure to check their website or social media for updates on their plant sales for spring.

Did you know that the wreaths and garland hung around the town of Cheraw are handmade from live local greenery and pine cones by the Four Seasons Garden Club ? This is a 4 day process from hunting and gathering, assembling and decorating to hanging. Tomorrow is our super busy day with some exciting things planned so stay tuned.
