We extend our sincere thanks to the community leaders, elected officials, tourism partners, Chamber of Commerce representatives, local businesses, and guests who joined us to celebrate our official Grand Opening.

The support and enthusiasm we've received since opening our doors have been truly remarkable. We are especially grateful to the organizations and individuals who have welcomed us into the Cumberland community and have helped share our story throughout Allegany County and beyond.

Meet Lauren Broadwater, Restaurant Manager of 1867 A Modern Chophouse!
Born and raised in Allegany County, Lauren is proud to return home and bring her passion for hospitality to The Wills Hotel. With over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, she has built her career through leadership roles in restaurants, bars, and hospitality operations, earning a reputation for exceptional guest service, strong team leadership, and creating memorable dining experiences.

After beginning her career at a local restaurant, Lauren moved to Florida, where she spent several years managing high-volume restaurant operations along the Emerald Coast. Having worked in nearly every front-of-house role—from hosting and serving to bartending and management—she brings a well-rounded perspective to restaurant leadership. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong teams, developing future leaders, and creating environments where both employees and guests feel welcomed and valued.

Now back in the community that helped shape her, Lauren is excited to bring that experience home. As Restaurant Manager of 1867 Modern Chophouse, she is focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences, fostering a positive workplace culture, and building strong relationships within the community. Lauren believes great leadership starts with being present, supporting your team, and creating an environment where people can succeed. She takes pride in working alongside her employees and helping create a culture built on respect, support, and shared success. We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the community about The Wills Hotel, and we are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and kind words.

From the very beginning, our goal has been to add value to Cumberland and become a meaningful part of this community. It is our sincere hope that we can positively impact the lives of everyone we have the privilege of serving—whether through an overnight stay, a memorable dining experience, a gathering with friends over drinks, or by fostering lasting partnerships with local businesses.

A familiar face to many throughout the community, Jennifer brings more than 17 years of hospitality experience and over 20 years of customer service expertise to her role at The Wills Hotel in Cumberland, Maryland, part of the Riley Hotel Group.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has earned a reputation for her strong work ethic, hands-on leadership style, and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Her extensive background in hotel operations, guest relations, team leadership, and employee development allows her to lead with confidence while fostering a culture where team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow.

Jennifer is also well known throughout the community for her professionalism, approachable personality, and dedication to building meaningful relationships.
