Iāve been a frequent Airbnb travelerāover 100 stays without incident over the past 10 yearsāand never have I experienced anything like this. From start to finish, this property and host were not hospitable. Disgusting and Unsanitary Conditions
This home was nothing like the listing photos. There was laundry left in the washer and dryer, dirty dishes piled in the dishwasher, and furniture that was stained and ripped. The carpets were filthy, and under the sink was horrifyingāthere was mold, debris, and an exposed pipe stuffed with tissue to hold in the excess water. To stop the smell, they added Baking Soda next to the pipes. It wasnāt just unsanitaryāit was hazardous. A Host Who Refused to Help
When I tried to address these issues with the host, I was met with a flood of aggressive messagesā20 to 30 within minutes. Instead of helping, the host dismissed my concerns, labeled the pantry as a āmaidās closetā to avoid accountability, and even falsely accused me of breaking house rules. Freezing Temperatures and Remote Thermostat Control
It was under 40 degrees outside on the night of my stay, and the thermostat was locked by the host. After contacting the host at 2am to try to get it resolved, they unlocked it remotelyābut only to restrict it to no higher than 71 degrees. The host even denied the thermostat was locked, but I have photo proof that it was. Imagine being that cold and being told youāre lying. Bugs and Safety Concerns
My son was bitten by bugs while sleeping, and the home felt like someone had just packed up and left for the weekend. There were areas of the house that felt unsafe, and I was terrified someone could have been hiding in one of the many unlocked spaces. And then, to make matters worse, I discovered signs of hidden cameras inside the home. This violation of privacy was terrifying and unacceptable. No family should ever have to endure this. This stay completely almost ruined our holiday. We were there for Thanksgiving, but the kitchen was unusable due to clutter and filth.
