TACAC is excited to kick off the fall recruitment season with a college fair in El Paso, TX! The fair will consist of two sessions. The morning session will be exclusively for Ysleta ISD students from their 10 high schools, and the evening session will be open to the entire El Paso community!

Save the Date: August 27th. Registration will open mid-June!

Our next award recipient, we want to recognize the TACAC Honorary Lifetime Member- Angelica Melendez, Houston ISD🌟

Enacted in 1987, the status of Honorary Lifetime Membership was established by the executive board to recognize inspired leadership and extraordinary service to students in the college admission process.

The TACAC membership is one of the most important professional investments organizations and individuals make into creating a high impact admissions professional. For most of her career, Angelica has personally financed her membership and attendance at TACAC events. She believes so strongly in our mission that she has also sponsored registrations for TACAC and NACAC conferences for Texas ACAC members. She has held a variety of leadership positions with TACAC and continues to be a mentor to others in our field. Her presence at TACAC events and within the directory of our membership continues to allow others to learn from her, get encouragement and advice when needed, and share in her love of our association. I cannot think of a more worthy recipient of a lifetime membership.

Our next award recipient, we want to recognize the TACAC Founders' Award - Allie Brown, Oklahoma State University 🌟

Established in 1986 by the TACAC executive board, the Founders’ Award recognizes members whose contributions to the association and the profession are “above and beyond the call of duty” and exemplary of exceptional talent and devotion to students. These awards are designated as “Founders’ Awards” in honor and recognition of the charter members of TACAC.

Allie has given above and beyond to TACAC through her service as conference registration chair and the first person to complete the treasurer cycle. She has worked tirelessly to ensure the association’s fiscal health, transparency, and sustainability. She has developed new policies, led the finance committee, provided thorough examination of all budgeting aspects, and was never afraid to ask the tough questions. As registration chair, she has been a tremendous support to the executive director by ensuring registrants are held responsible for their invoices and managed in a timely manner. During the conference, she works around the clock to get attendees checked in, troubleshoot onsite registration issues, and manage everything at the "front of the house." She always puts the association and its members first, and remains authentic.

Before the school year wraps up, we want to send a second round of congratulations to our 2026 TACAC Award Recipients!

To kick things off, we want to recognize the Friends of TACAC Award - Texas Tech University Undergraduate Admissions 🌟

The Friends of TACAC Award Honors individuals or organizations who make significant contributions to TACAC or our mission. These awards could be used to recognize non-members or associate non- voting members for their donated services, monetary contributions, legislative support, or other contributions which foster the growth of TACAC.

When TACAC decided to branch out to rural areas for the annual conference, they immediately reached out to TACAC with their West Texas hospitality to ask how they could help. They wanted to ensure that attendees saw their love of Lubbock. They provided committee support, volunteers, resources, financial sponsorship, tours, and a beautiful facility for our conference social. They have continued to support TACAC in conference planning and provide helpful volunteers on multiple committees. They have offered the use of their regional admission centers for TACAC meetings and programming. Additionally, they support their staff en masse with TACAC's professional development offerings, whether that is through attendance, service, and/or leadership. Year after year their dedication to TACAC is clear.

Admissions and College Counseling Institute (ACCI), is TACAC’s summer experience designed for early-career admissions counselors and high school college advisors ready to grow in their craft and expand their professional network.

This year you can choose the format that works best for you:

🖥 Virtual ACCI | July 20–22: $75

🏫 In-Person ACCI at Texas Tech DFW | July 23–24: $195 (some meals included; lodging not included)

Both formats feature identical curriculum and a highly interactive experience, including:
📚Breakout sessions led by seasoned veterans from both secondary and higher education
👋Small-group collaboration and networking
👓Behind-the-scenes mock admissions committee reviewing three Common Applications
🎭Role-specific capstone and presentation development
