Hot take: sometimes the most dangerous thing at a dog park isn’t the dogs. It’s the humans. 💔
I’ve never shared this publicly, and honestly, even 7 months later, it still makes me sick to my stomach.
We used to have the BEST morning routine. Ruby had her dog park besties, a safe place to run off leash, and a little community we genuinely loved. Until one morning changed everything.
We had to CALL THE POLICE at our favorite dog park. 🚨
No dogs were hurt, thankfully. But because of the human element, we no longer felt safe going back. And just like that, our favorite part of the day was gone.
Here’s the part that still breaks my heart: our dogs didn’t understand why they suddenly stopped seeing each other. 🥺
I still wonder if Ruby’s little dog friends looked for her. If they waited for her to show up. If they wondered where she went.
For SEVEN MONTHS, Ruby hasn’t had a dog park where she could just run free. And if you have a high-drive, high-energy working dog like an Australian Cattle Dog, you know that off-leash freedom hits different. 🐕💨
I know dog parks are controversial. Some people swear by them. Others say they’d NEVER take their dog to one. But here’s my unpopular opinion: responsible dog owners shouldn’t have to sacrifice their dog’s freedom because of irresponsible humans.
Today, after 7 months, I finally got to watch my girl run freely in a private, fully fenced park again. 🥹And the best part? This little slice of doggy paradise is only 17 minutes from our house.
Thank you, Sniffspot , for giving us something I genuinely thought we’d lost. We’re SO proud and excited to officially be Sniffspot partners! 🐾
