CIRCUIT COURT MAKES RULING on Saugatuck Meadows (Campit RV Park) appeal.

As you may recall the Ganges Township Planning Commission voted 3–2 to reject the 89-site, 25-acre Saugatuck Meadows project on August 27, 2025.

Central Florida Resort Property Management (owner Michael O'Connor, who also oversees nearby Campit Outdoor Resort) appealed the municipal decision to the Allegan County 48th Circuit Court on September 29, 2025.

In a recent decision the judge declined to rule and remanded the case back to the planning commission for further review and another vote.

For all of you who previously attended meetings and wrote letters expressing your opposition to the Campit RV Park expansion please consider attending the next Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, August 25th 7pm at the Ganges Township Hall to express your continued opposition. Emails can also be sent to the PC by emailing Robin Phelps at [email protected]

Here we go … The Campit Resort has put out its calendar of events, shows, bands, activities etc every weekend for the next seven months
As with every previous summer and fall, ordinance violations occur, and this comes with disturbance and disruption to our community.

The township board is in the process of hiring an enforcement officer. (see current ad and job description for EO in this weeks Allegan County News) Once hired, their contact information will be posted on the township website. In response to township residents anticipated concerns regarding disturbance and disruption, the board is encouraging residents to call the police and request a complaint number and the officer’s name. Please email the complaint number and officers’s name to the township supervisor, John Hebert ([email protected]).

The board is also suggesting we call Campit directly at 269-543-4300. They have been told someone monitors that number at all times and they will address any noise issues.

As always, please consider attending the township board meetings and contacting township supervisor John Hebert at [email protected] or 269-543-4634 to report and address continued concerns and violations regarding Campit or any other township disturbances and the effectiveness of the reporting processes suggested by the board. Here’s hoping for a more peaceful coexistence this summer and fall.
