National Lift Truck Helps Bring White Sox Monument Home!

In April 2008, the Chicago White Sox unveiled Champions Plaza—the baseball diamond-shaped brick plaza located at the main entrance of Rate Field. At the heart of the plaza stands a stunning bronze and granite monument commemorating the White Sox’s historic 2005 World Series Championship.

National Lift Truck’s Specialized Hauling team partnered with ARS, a local rigging company, to transport the monument from the artist’s studio in Highwood, Illinois, to its permanent home at the ballpark (then known as U.S. Cellular Field). Due to its massive size and weight—more than 25 tons—the monument was transported in multiple sections on flatbed trucks.

Once on site, ARS carefully removed each section and positioned it on its permanent foundation in the center of Champions Plaza. Using a crane, the pieces were expertly lifted and assembled with precision, fitting together like a giant puzzle to create the iconic tribute fans see today.

Projects like this showcase the expertise, teamwork, and careful planning required to move and install oversized, one-of-a-kind structures. We're proud to have played a role in bringing this piece of Chicago baseball history to life.
