🚴‍♂️ Cycling Fact of the Day 🚴‍♀️

You don’t have to ride hundreds of miles to see real health benefits. A 2026 study found that even modest daily cycling can improve cardiovascular recovery, reduce body fat, and increase overall fitness levels.

Every ride counts—whether you’re riding across the country or just enjoying a few miles along the trail.

We took a break from the day-to-day at 1878 RiverRun and headed to the stadium in Cleveland to watch Brazil 🇧🇷 take on Egypt 🇪🇬 in a World Cup warm-up friendly yesterday!

The atmosphere was incredible, the fans showed up, and it was exciting to see some of the world’s best players on the field as the countdown to the 2026 World Cup continues. ⚽️

We’re cheering for 🇧🇷 Brazil and 🇺🇸 USA, but we’re curious—who are you rooting for?

About a month ago, this wall was mostly blank.

Slowly but surely, it has started to fill up.

Now, every time we walk by, there's something new to read: a recommendation for a great meal, a reminder to keep pedaling, a bit of trail wisdom, or a message from someone who was here just a few days before. Notes, favorite stops, words of encouragement, and little pieces of wisdom have slowly transformed this wall into a snapshot of the cycling community that passes through our doors.

One of the coolest parts is seeing complete strangers encourage one another without ever meeting. A rider from Ohio leaves a note for someone coming through next week. A traveler shares a favorite stop along the trail. Someone else leaves a message that simply makes you smile.

What started as a few scattered notes has become a collection of memories, advice, and stories from the trail. We can't wait to see what the wall looks like by the end of the season.

If you're staying with us, be sure to leave your mark on the board before you head back out on the trail. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️✨

It’s always nice to see a little maintenance happening along the canal. 🚜

The National Park Service was out today clearing vegetation and helping keep the canal looking its best. Anyone who spends time along the C&O knows nature has a way of reclaiming things pretty quickly, so it’s a never-ending task. Still, it’s great to see the work being done and the canal getting a little extra attention.

For cyclists, walkers, and visitors passing through Hancock, these small efforts help keep this historic corridor looking welcoming all season long.

A big thank you to the National Park Service for helping preserve one of the things that makes our town so special. 🌿🚴‍♂️

🚴‍♀️ Another beautiful day along the C&O Canal. ☀️

After a long day on the trail, there’s something relaxing about looking out over the canal and knowing tomorrow’s ride starts just steps away. Just a comfortable place to rest between miles.

For cyclists traveling the C&O Canal Towpath or connecting to the GAP Trail, it’s hard to beat staying right where the adventure is happening.

A quiet reminder that some of the best moments at 1878 RiverRun aren’t planned.

This morning, a graceful heron stopped by the canal, taking its time along the water’s edge while the world moved a little slower around it. Moments like these are part of what makes staying here special.

Sometimes the best part of the journey is slowing down long enough to notice.
