1878 RiverRun: Your historic canal-side escape. Perfect for biking, hiking, and exploring the region’s rich history. We recently opened on May 1, 2025.

Experience the charm of Hancock, MD with direct access to the C&O Canal Towpath and the paved Western Maryland Rail Trail. We’re open year-round! This property provides two rental options to accommodate your group size and preferences. You can enjoy exclusive access to the entire house, which includes the following 5 suites, each with a private bedroom and bathroom:

Suite One: Two (2) twin beds
Suite Two: Two (2) twin beds
Suite Three: One (1) queen bed
Suite Four: Two (2) twin beds
Suite Five: One (1) full bed

Alternatively, individual suites can be booked separately.

Did you know the world's longest rideable bicycle measures an incredible 180 feet, 11 inches long?!

Built in the Netherlands, this massive bicycle officially earned a Guinness World Records title on April 30, 2024!

Now imagine trying to navigate that around a bend on the C&O Canal Towpath!

As the cycling season winds down, we enjoyed spending last Sunday catching up with fellow lodging owners and businesses along the GAP and C&O Canal Towpath at the End of Season Trail Party! 🚴🍂

As we wrap up our second season at RiverRun, we're grateful for the friendships we've made, the familiar faces we've come to know, and the new connections we continue to build. Being one of the newer faces in this wonderful trail community, it's been a pleasure getting to know everyone and supporting one another along the way.

And while cycling season may be coming to an end, RiverRun is open year-round! Whether you're exploring the trails, planning a winter getaway, or simply looking for a cozy place to unwind, we're here and ready to welcome you in every season! ❄️

Ahhh, the sounds of small-town life… birds chirping, bicycles rolling by, and occasionally THIS. 🔊😳😂

Guests often ask about this sound, we’ve even gotten calls at 2 or 3 in the morning asking, “Ummm… is the world ending?!” 😳🌎🤣

No apocalypse here! That’s Hancock’s backup siren alerting our local first responders—volunteers and county employees—to a call. 🚒🚑❤️

Hearing that siren alone doesn’t mean something’s wrong at RiverRun. It’s a little introduction to small-town living with the volume turned up! 😂❤️

Small town. BIG sound. Even bigger hearts. Thank you to everyone who answers the call, day or night. 👏❤️
