Hardman Farm to host America 250 Jubilee Festival and concert June 27

SAUTEE NACOOCHEE, Ga. — Hardman Farm State Historic Site will mark America’s 250th birthday with an afternoon of Americana and an evening of music during its 250th Jubilee Festival and Concert on Saturday, June 27.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. for the celebration, which will give ticket holders access to the farm’s historic 100-year-old-plus mansion, barns and outbuildings.

“There will be lots of nostalgic summer fun,” said Sarah Summers, assistant manager at Hardman Farm. “We’re excited to celebrate the 4th of July the way the original owners of Hardman Farm might have commemorated the Centennial celebration in 1876.”

HOT AIR BALLOON RACE 🎈
The 53rd Annual Helen to the Atlantic Hot Air Balloon race gets going tomorrow morning at 7AM. 20 balloons will launch at the same time and attempt to race eastward. Helen, GA is the start line. I-95, anywhere between Maine and Miami, is the finish line.

➡️WIND FORECAST: The weather is not going to help the race crews. The balloons need to go EAST. The wind aloft will be blowing toward the NORTHWEST. Clockwise wind around high pressure to our north will be pushing the balloons away from their target to begin the race. Winds lighten up on Friday.

➡️IF NO ONE MAKES IT TO I-95: The balloon that is the farthest east at sunset on Friday wins the race.

➡️TAKE PICTURES: We’d love to see the images of the balloons in the sky over north Georgia – no matter which direction they fly!
