🚨 TODAY’S THE DAY, KAʻŪ ʻOHANA! ❤️🌺

A reminder that donations for our Kaʻū ʻohana are being collected TODAY, Friday, August 21!

📍 Keaʻau Shipman Park
⏰ 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Accepting NEW, UNOPENED & UNUSED essential supplies, including:

💧 Water
🧤 PPE & gloves
🧴 Cleaning & disinfecting supplies
🧽 Cleaning supplies
🧴 Spray bottles
🧻 Disinfecting wipes
🧴 Travel-sized toiletries & hygiene items
🐾 Pet food
🧼 Other essential sanitation supplies

Please do not bring clothing or used items. With many families still without power, there isn’t an easy way to wash or sort used items, and we want to be mindful of allergies and sensitivities for the ʻohana receiving them.

KAʻŪ ʻOHANA — WE’RE STILL SHOWING UP FOR EACH OTHER. ❤️🌺

A quick clarification for tomorrow’s donation collection:

To best support our ʻohana in Kaʻū, we are asking that all donated items be NEW, UNOPENED, and UNUSED.

This is not about limiting the ways people can help. It’s about making sure the items we collect are safe and immediately usable.

Many families in Kaʻū are still without power, which means they may not have the ability to wash clothing or properly clean and sort through used items. We also want to be mindful of potential allergies and sensitivities for the ʻohana receiving these donations.

For tomorrow, Friday, August 21, donations will be collected at:

Ka‘ū Community Support ❤️🌺

Our Ka‘ū community needs a little extra aloha right now. If you’re able to help, donations are being collected TODAY (8/19/26) from 2–6 PM at Shipman Park in Keaʻau to support families in Ka‘ū.

They’re accepting:

🥫 Non-perishable foods
🧴 Toiletries
❤️ Anything you’re able to give

As Hurricane Lala approaches, please stay safe, stay informed, and take the time to check on your ʻohana, friends, neighbors, and those who may need a little extra help.

Know your resources. Keep an eye on official updates. Have a plan, stay prepared, and when the storm passes, check in on each other. ❤️

This started as a father–daughter camping weekend at Laupāhoehoe Beach Park — tents tucked under ironwoods, ocean just steps away, meals cooked together, wind moving through the trees.
