Labor Day exists to recognize the effort behind everything we often take for granted—bridges, books, hospitals, power lines, food, and every service that holds up daily life. It honors the people who built them, maintain them, and continue to do the work that keeps the country moving forward.
The holiday began as a statement. In the late 1800s, workers demanded fair pay, safe conditions, and a voice. What started as a protest became a national tradition. Today, Labor Day is marked by gatherings, parades, and moments of pause across the country.
One of the most enduring symbols tied to the day is the American flag. When flown on Labor Day, it stands for the dignity of work and for the people whose effort is behind so much of what we value.

Ruben & Haley live in St. Petersburg and wanted a staycation at the beach.

They had a great time!
Ruben was up early every morning so he could fish from shore. It then progressed to fishing from the kayak. Man & the sea just like Captain Gary!

Ruben Jr. invited 3 of his friends to join them. Dempsey, Liam & Ben played a lot of volleyball in the pool and also enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding & riding bikes. We have many things to keep 13 year olds busy!

Ruben & Haley were celebrating a special anniversary so dinner at Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores was a hit.

Ruben & I were both born in the Republic of Panama 🇵🇦 albeit different hospitals and a 20 year gap but we reminisced about our childhoods growing up there. His Dad is a good friend of mine and I hope to one day host him!
