The Indianapolis Hiking Club The Indianapolis Hiking Club hosts 2,000+ hikes per year, and only a fraction of those are mentioned on FB. Guests are welcome on all hikes at no cost.

The Indianapolis Hiking Club was formed by a group of Hoosiers who liked to hike and work on conservation projects, like the completion of the 22 mile Yellowwood Trail in Brown County. In 2011 we scheduled a record 2,262 hikes (more than six a day) and we currently have 600+ members, making us one of the largest hiking organizations in the country.

* Such a fun wildlife-filled hike at Eagle Creek Park today! We spotted a beautiful swan gliding across the water, a bald eagle perched high above us, and even a long black snake crossing our path! You never know what you’ll encounter on the trails—that’s part of the adventure!

* This hike looked a little different today! Walking close to White River and the adjacent trails we normally hike on were underwater from the flooding, and stepping through the thick mud felt like walking in quicksand.

On a positive note, no one lost a shoe!!!
