38 years ago tonight, September 7th, the Red Bench fire tore through downtown Polebridge.

The man seated behind the Northern Lights Saloon sign is Larry Humphrey. He was USFS wild-land fire fighter.

He saved the Polebridge Mercantile that night when an ember 🔥 began to burn in the attic.
