At Newpark, safety will always be our top priority.

Our HSE team recently organized a Train the Trainers driver safety training centered around the Smith System’s Smith5Keys. The goal of the training was to teach drivers the behaviors and mindsets needed to help prevent vehicle accidents by learning how to see, think, and control their way through different driving environments. 🛻

Through this Smith System-led course, our team walked away with proven methods they can use to become safer drivers.

Say hello to Udit Aggarwal, Service Desk IT Support Specialist here at Newpark!

As a Service Desk IT Support Specialist, Udit provides global technical support by troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with user account and asset management, and supporting onboarding/offboarding processes—always ensuring that every employee receives timely and effective assistance.

When asked about how his Newpark experience has been over the last year and a half, Udit had this to say:

“What I enjoy most about working at Newpark is the opportunity to solve challenges that help employees stay productive and connected. Every day brings something new to learn, and it’s rewarding to know that my work directly supports our global teams.”

When in Rome…

Earlier this month, Newpark had the privilege of hosting this year’s annual in-person IOGP and ISO TC67/SC3 plenary sessions at the Hotel de la Ville in none other than The Eternal City.

Between the different committee groups and organizations, their roles are to ensure the development and maintenance of international standards across the oil and gas space, standardize everything from specifications to testing methods specifically related to fluids, improve safety, and lower lifecycle costs.

Set to the most beautiful backdrop, it was an honor to be able to take part in these important conversations advancing our industry’s safety and technical standards.

Say hello to Bhuvan Jallu, IT Applications Developer here at Newpark!

As an IT Applications Developer, Bhuvan helps develop, maintain, and improve internal business applications which requires him to solve and troubleshoot technical issues, improve existing features, and ensure all company apps are running smoothly.

Since he joined Newpark in 2021, Bhuvan has been involved in a number of challenging projects—each of which he says has helped him learn, grow, and become a better problem solver.

In 2024, he joined the Mumbai office’s Cultural Committee, a different kind of responsibility but a role he takes very seriously. Because of this, he’s been able to have a bigger hand in planning local employee activities like team-building events and interactive sessions for his colleagues.

When he’s not working, Bhuvan enjoys spending time with his family, planning activities that bring all his loved ones together, and playing badminton and cricket.

Looking ahead, Bhuvan’s goal for himself is to, “keep improving his skills, learn from those around him, and make meaningful contributions that support the success of the organization.”

📣 BIG win for our South Texas team and operator: Over $1.4M Saved!

A South Texas operator was recently struggling with escalating costs related to fluid losses when using oil-based mud (OBM). Faced with this problem during a 5-well drilling campaign, Newpark proposed and designed a switch to a high-performance water-based mud (HPWBM) system that also incorporated NewTex and NewPerm, specialty additives engineered for superior shale inhibition and lubricity.

Once the switch was made from OBM to Newpark’s HPWBM, the operator saw substantial results including the successful drilling of the 5 wells along with a 69% reduction in cost/bbl compared to OBM. This drastically lower cost/bbl is estimated to have saved the operator an astounding $1.469 million in direct fluid product costs!

The Tuscaloosa Marine Shale has a known history of being fragile in nature and costing operators thousands of lost barrels of drilling fluid per well. But what if there was a ‘fix’ to this?

To combat the challenges the operator faced, three lost circulation products from our proprietary FIX™ Series - PreFIX™, ProppFIX™, and FracFIX™ were implemented in conjunction with one another across two separate field trials.

The end results?
✅ Zero mud losses in the first trial
✅ Just 895 barrels lost in the second trial, compared with 9,800 barrels on the previous well from the same pad
✅ 30% reduction in drilling fluid costs
