✈️ A little TWA history from my airline archives...
I collect a LOT of airline memorabilia, especially vintage airline menus. While organizing some of it, I came across this old-school gem: a TWA Royal Ambassador First Class luggage tag that passengers were provided at check-in.
Royal Ambassador was TWA's international First Class, a name with roots going all the way back to 1961. By the 1980s, TWA was flying Royal Ambassador First Class and Ambassador Class on its international widebody network, an era of ✈️ 747s, L-1011s and, beginning in the mid-'80s, 767s.
This particular tag should date from somewhere around the mid-to-late 1980s. And yes, it's wonderfully beat up. That's part of the charm. It wasn't made to be a collectible. It was made to travel. 🌎
Airline history you could literally tie onto your luggage. 🧳
I have boxes of this stuff. The menus are where things get really interesting...
