Most people have no idea that Alabama has a mountain that will stop your heart. 🍂🦅 Cheaha Mountain rises 2,413 feet above sea level — the highest point in the entire state — and when autumn arrives and the Talladega National Forest ignites in color, there is not a more beautiful view in the entire Southeast. Standing on those ancient rocks and looking out over that endless rolling sea of red and gold and orange, you feel something shift inside you.
⛰️🏔️Alabama has a way of doing that to people who slow down long enough to really look at her. The fall color season at Cheaha is one of Alabama’s most spectacular and most underappreciated natural events. Hikers, photographers, and anyone lucky enough to have made the drive up knows exactly what we are talking about — that moment the overlook opens up and the whole world falls away below you and you just stand there, unable to speak, because nothing you could say would do it justice anyway. 👇
