Yesterday morning was a beautiful day for a hike. We started a load of laundry 🧺 then headed up the mountain. Monday checkout days are great!

Definitely something to see. This holds a special place in my heart.

Lineville was called County Line until 1870. 🚰 The Encyclopedia of Alabama says brothers Thomas F. and William Y. Lundie opened a trading post there in 1838 on the Old McIntosh Trail, and the community became known as Lundie’s Cross Roads. When a post office opened in April 1856, it took the name County Line because the town sat just inside Randolph County at the border with Talladega County. In 1866 the state formed Clay County partly because the area was cut off from both county seats by the Tallapoosa River and the Talladega Mountains, and the town lost the county-seat contest to Ashland. On February 3, 1870, County Line became Lineville because it no longer lay on a county line. The town was incorporated in 1898, a railroad arrived in 1907, and in 1916 it built public utilities and a large water tower that is now on the list of Alabama historic landmarks.

Extremely thankful as I walk the Hideaway late last night. Children playing and roasting marshmallows. Families sitting around the fire table reconnecting. No screens. Just time together. What a blessing.
