Salyer Lake Where faith grows, friendships deepen, and memories are made. Our food service is second to none, and portions are more than adequate.

Salyer Lake Conference & Retreat Center welcomes churches, families, and groups to experience God's creation and grow in faith together. Salyer Lake Conference and Retreat Center exists primarily for church and religious camps and retreats. We are affiliated with the Nazarene Church, but are privileged to host and share in ministry with many different denominations. Beautiful scenery and rugged topography transports you far away, although we are only about an hour away from anywhere in OKC. Youth and children camps, family Camp meetings, conferences and retreats are just some of the events we are privileged to host.

Friday Gracemont fire update. I didn't see any air support. Did take a drive around most of the perimeter, drove on some roads I had never been on, and all was fairly quiet. The dozers are either gone or loaded up. I did see a couple of brush pumpers on the West side, and US Forestry trucks strategically placed, watching on 4 high places. Cogar Volunteer Fire Department still had two tankers strategically placed. I did see a couple of flare ups, but they were surrounded by total burn.

Thursday evening update. Today was relatively quiet, ( compared to the last 4 days). One chopper hitting hotspots, a few Volunteer Fire Departments here and over 100 ground firefighters in the rugged terrain with hand tools and chainsaws. I just spoke with a US FORESTRY employee out of Johnson City Tennessee. He came by to check with me about any concerns. He said if the air tankers had not come in when they did, we would have burned. Also very thankful for the firefighters in there in there heavy gear, putting their lives on the line. Keeping it from starting back up. My District Superintendent Brian R Wiesinger just came by for a look. We drove our property and most of the perimeter of the fire. Here are a couple of pics I took. Kenneth D Hembree

This pic was shared to me. I have no clue who took it, but thanks.

Just got in for the night. We had 5 Forestry dozers and a grader cutting firebreaks on our property and to the West. We have decided to stay home tonight as I am so involved with everything going on. The wind has died down, it held its North direction all day. There are crews from all over Oklahoma working tonight. Our terrain, makes it so tough. Have had a great opportunity to meet some great folks, and share with them what SL is, and why we are here and do what we do. Big big thanks to our fire crew Cogar Volunteer Fire Department ,Binger, Hinton, El Reno, Bridge creek, Tuttle and on and on.
Thank you for your prayers, please keep them going.
