During our two-day retreat at Camp Dawson, Leadership Monongalia's Class of 2027 stepped away from the day-to-day to build relationships, explore their CliftonStrengths and grow as leaders. The cohort also heard inspiring stories from Camp Dawson and Mountaineer Challenge Academy, gaining a deeper appreciation for the important work happening there.

This retreat is where a group of professionals begins to become a cohort. Special thanks to our retreat planning committee for creating an experience that challenged, inspired and connected this year's class. Your time, creativity and commitment helped lay the foundation for the year ahead.

An inside look at the future of our community! Leadership Mon spent today exploring Monongalia County Schools and the people, programs, and spaces helping our students thrive.

From Morgantown High and MTEC to Eastwood Elementary and Mountaineer Middle, we learned about school safety, career and technical education, student support, and innovative learning environments. A special treat was lunch prepared by MTEC’s ProStart students and Chef Covell!

A huge thank-you to all of today’s speakers, school teams, and student guides, and especially our coordinators, Teresa Nass and Amber Nichols, both Leadership Mon alumni, for organizing such an engaging day! Your dedication to our schools and community shines through.

What a weekend!

The Leadership Mon Class of 2027 retreat was filled with challenges, laughter, team building, meaningful conversations, and plenty of opportunities to step outside our comfort zones.

From the Mountaineer Challenge Academy and CliftonStrengths to strategic planning, a little friendly competition, and an evening of Family Feud, every activity gave us a chance to learn more about ourselves and each other.

This retreat is always one of our favorite parts of the Leadership Mon experience because it’s where a group of individuals really starts becoming a class. We left Camp Dawson with stronger connections, new perspectives, and plenty of “ah-hah” moments to carry with us throughout the year.

Thank you to our retreat planners Ashley Lesnick, Rachelle Beatty, Lauren A. Thomas, and Kel Cecil for coordinating an amazing experience.

Next stop…Mon County K-12 Day on Oct 15th. 📚

On site and ready to go! The Leadership Mon leadership team is at Camp Dawson putting the finishing touches on our annual retreat, which kicks off tomorrow!

We can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2027 for two days of connection, teamwork, and growth with plenty of fun along the way. Let the retreat begin!

The Leadership Mon Class of 2027 is officially underway! Today’s first session, Leadership Day, brought our new class together for a day of learning, connection and exploring what it means to lead with purpose.

This week, the Leadership Monongalia leadership team gathered at the Morgantown Area Partnership office to review applications for the upcoming class and prepare for another year of developing and connecting leaders across Monongalia County. There was also a little celebrating to do as we wished Rachelle a very happy birthday!

Thank you to everyone who applied to be part of Leadership Monongalia. All applicants will be notified by email soon, and we look forward to welcoming the next class of local leaders.

Leadership Monongalia is a program of the Morgantown Area Partnership focused on developing informed, engaged leaders and strengthening connections throughout our community.
