As we celebrate this Juneteenth, let's take a moment to remember that slavery didn't just exist down south, there were slaves up north persisting even after some states it abolished it before the civil war.

We see from census records that original builder of our farmhouse owned two slaves and supervised a third, though we don't know their names, gender, or exact ages.

Sojourner Truth's name looms large in New Paltz and the Hudson valley, for whom the library at SUNY New Paltz is named.

We launched our Airbnb! The house is appointed in an 'historic colonial farmhouse' vibe to pay homage to the 3 revolutionary war vets who lived there. Perfect getaway to celebrate the end of your kids' school year. Yes, there's cold AC. We have June 22nd to June 27th open, and 10% off on a 3 night stay.

We’re playing our part to bring back the American chestnut tree. Six seeds have been procured for spring planting. We were inspired by the beams and framing of the farmhouse, mostly constructed from this venerable but nearly extinct species. If even two saplings survive the blight beyond this decade, they can cross pollinate via wind and hopefully produce more seeds! Consider a donation, or purchasing and planting your own property.
